Spring has sprung but earlier this year we were visited by something of which we have little experience in this country …real winter weather.

By now we all know of the many hardships which this polar snap brought with it; stories of hazardous roads, deadly footpaths, burst pipes, water shortages and people being virtual prisoners in their own homes are many and varied. But there is one aspect of this which we almost overlooked at the time and which it’s important we don’t forget now that it is all over (hopefully) for this year and that is how it brought out the best in us, how it proved that, even in these cynical times, we really do care about each other.
