Lyrics of Molly Malone

In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty

I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone

as she wheeled a wheelbarrow, through streets broad and narrow

crying cockles and mussels, alive alive O

CHORUS:  Alive alive O, alive alive O

               Crying cockles and mussels

               Alive alive O

She was a fishmonger, and sure ’twas no wonder

for so was her father and mother before

they both wheeled their barrow through streets broad and narrow

crying cockles and mussels alive alive O

(CHOURUS)

She died of a fever, and no one could save her

and that was the end of sweet Molly Malone

now her ghost wheels a barrow, through streets broad and narrow

crying cockles and mussels, alive alive O

(CHOURS TWICE TO END)

The worst goalie

With the World Cup almost upon us I thought I would brighten up your day by briefly telling you about a unique goalie called Isadore Irandir who plied his trade with the Brazilian team Rio Preto.  In a game in the early 1970s in Bahia Stadium against Corinthians, the ball was passed to Roberto Rivelino from the kick off and he, seeing that Senhor Irandir was otherwise occupied, sent a left footed drive from the halfway line.  The ball whistled to the net past our hero who was on his knees finishing his pre match prayers !  Now if only the French goalie was  like that…….?????
